Abstract

In this society all the citizens have a Fundamental Rights. The Fundamental Rights play a vital role in every citizen’s life. The Constitution of India gave the Fundamental Rights to the citizens. This case plays a crucial role of protect a prisoner’s fundamental rights. The preamble provides the equality and secularism. All are equal in the law. So, the rights also equal all citizens including prisoners. In this case the court held that speedy trial comes under fundamental rights. This case provides rights to prisoners in certain circumstances. This is the landmark case the court held that every prisoner has a fundamental right to speedy trial under article 21 of the constitution of India. This case outlines the important of human rights and priority of the public interest litigation in India and the importance of prisoner’s rights.
